According to Bloomberg, California scored behind Massachusetts, “which gained ground by churning out more science and engineering graduates and producing jobs in those industries even though it had less technology company density than in 2015,” according to the data compiled by Bloomberg.

Big Data startup Rocana provides ops solutions for IT

The Boston Business Journal recently wrote an editorial on a SF tech start-up that decided to situate its HQ in Boston. In the BBJ article, the CEO, “Trajman, who founded venture-backed Rocana about a year and a half ago, said that while San Francisco innovators are future-thinkers focused on the next big thing, Boston innovators are more focused on solving current issues with high-tech solutions…He said he hopes his company can serve as a role model for future entrepreneurial endeavors considering a Boston headquarters. Trajman joins several other startup founders who have said they’re committed to growing their businesses in Boston instead of in the West Coast.”

“Uber is testing its UberHealth service…in partnership with Vaccine Finder, a free vaccine search tool developed in part by Boston Children’s Hospital. For every shot given, the company said it would donate $5 to the Red Cross to support vaccination efforts for children including its Measles & Rubella Initiati.”

0 Blade Unveils $20M Seed Fund for Boston Tech Start-ups

Blade logo for Boston start-up tech fundConsumer Tech is a hot spot and Blade has launched a $20M seed fund to assist which is headed up by Kayak co-founder Paul English.

The new fund is led by Paul English, co-founder of Kayak Software Corp.

According to pymnts.com, “english plans to invest $250,000 to $1 million per startup. The fund works, each selected startup will be able to use the office space at Blade’s offices in Boston for a few months, or a full year, depending on their needs, and what they are building.”

Offices at 300 Technology Sq in Kendall Sq.Is rent control coming to the Cambridge office market? Cambridge is moving to create price-capped office space for start-ups in Kendall Square.

According to a Boston Globe article, Cambridge “is poised to become the first community in the country to require commercial developers to set aside lower-cost offices for start-up companies and budding entrepreneurs.”
