133 Federal Street is home to a new 11,000 RSF facility that was formerly FitCorp. CrossFit is not your gym experience from the past; the high intensity workouts have gone mainstream and become one of the hottest trends for those looking for more than simply picking things up and putting them down.

An article on the Boston Business Journal explains two central elements underlying the CrossFit craze, “first, it’s a deliberately decentralized business operation, giving gym owners wide latitude to set fees, lease space, purchase equipment and design programs….second, there is no prescribed exercise program, but rather a steady mix of drills intended to forge ‘elite fitness’.”

The Seaport/Innovation District is not only a live/work area of the city, but now a destination location for a great dining experience. Restaurateur Seth Greenberg’s new bistro will add a touch of French flavor to Boston’s Fort point neighborhood.

Grubstreet.com quotes Greenberg’s vision, “Bastille Kitchen will be the destination dining anchor to Boston’s Fort Point neighborhood that Pastis is to New York’s Meatpacking District.”

More steak choices are coming to the Seaport. Not long ago dining options were limited to a handful of high-end restaurants and business dining establishments; now the choices according to Zagat are up 35 including; French @ Menton, Italian @ Sportello, New American @ Aurajust, just to mention a few.

A Boston Herald article states, “Eddie Merlot’s, a Fort Wayne, Ind.-based chain of prime aged beef and seafood restaurants, is in the final stages of lease negotiations to open a 300- to 400-seat outpost at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel.”

The addition of the popular steakhouse chain would bring a midwestern dining alternative to Boston’s Seaport area.

The Boston Garden landscape is looking to make a change with the proposed addition of new office space, retail storefronts, and residences. The construction would yield a significant upgrade to the historic Beantown landmark, but what will it offer the true Celtics and Bruins fan? Modern places to work, eat, sleep and watch their teams bring home another championship, of course!

The Boston Globe reported yesterday that “owners of the TD Garden are resurrecting plans for a high-rise development in front of the arena that will include a pair of 400-foot towers containing offices, hundreds of residences, a hotel, and stores. The project, which would create a modern, retail-filled gateway to the North Station area, has gained new momentum in recent months, with Target Corp. and Stop & Shop negotiating plans to open stores in the complex.”

Boston Properties is mulling options on how to integrate retail amenities and a host of restaurants into the tremendous presence in the Financial District, at 100 Federal Street.

Boston Globe writer, Casey Ross, wrote on Boston.com, “the project at 100 Federal St. is still in its preliminary stages. But owner Boston Properties Inc. is seeking to create a more vibrant gathering space by adding new retail offerings at the base of the tower, which stands across from Post Office Square Park…The company is weighing several different options, including enclosing a portion of the plaza in a glass structure for restaurants and food-oriented retail businesses.”

How times have changed in our neighbor drugstore; from a soda fountains to sushi.

The Boston Business Journal reports, “contractors are at work restoring a portion of the building that once housed the bookstore and the historic Boston Five Cents Savings Bank. The new space in the former bank will feature marble and limestone walls, dark wood paneling and a porcelain floor. The store is one of three such Walgreens stores in the country. The others are in New York and in Chicago.”

The bear has moved to the entrance of the Floating Hospital for Children, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. The silver of Shreve, Crump & Low has found a new address at 39 Newbury Street. Now, bring on Bank of America at the corner of Berkeley and Boylston Streets.

Thomas Grillo, of the Boston Business Journal, reports that “the bank will occupy about 8,500 square feet on two floors at 440 Boylston St. at the Berkeley Street intersection, one of the most visible locations in the Back Bay, said people familiar with the transaction.
